Topic lead: Samuel Fankhauser
This research topic analyses the sources, governance and allocation of climate change finance for adaptation; in particular, international finance for the most vulnerable countries.
Research issues include:
adaptation costs (including value for money of investments);
prioritisation and effective use of adaptation finance ("spending wisely, spending equitably");
governance and implementation, both internationally and in-country (eg good practice case studies and 'conditions for success');
sources of finance (including leveraging private-sector financing) and appropriate financing channels (eg multilateral vs bilateral), and;
indicators of success.
Research includes both concept development and case studies on specific elements, including operationalising disaster loss and insurance proposals.
