Sherillyn is a Policy Fellow at the Just Transition Finance Lab, focusing on just transition issues in the banking sector and their implications for financial stability.

Background

Prior to joining the Lab, she was a Research Fellow at ODI Global, specialising in macroeconomics, with work encompassing global shocks, greening central banking, sustainable economic transformation, and public debt sustainability. She has also held research roles at the International Monetary Fund, Asian Development Bank, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, contributing to research on monetary policy, macro-financial surveillance, exchange rate policy, and regional financial integration.

Sherillyn holds an MSc in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford.

This commentary from the Just Transition Finance Lab investigates which countries are most vulnerable to energy shocks, illustrating the impacts on a fossil fuel-dependent nation — Pakistan, and a fossil fuel exporter — Indonesia. The authors show that reducing fossil fuel exposure and increasing renewable sources of energy in an inclusive manner, i.e. through a just transition, can provide durable protection against future energy shocks.
