The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment is delighted to announce the arrival of Professor Elizabeth Robinson as Director. She has joined the Institute from the University of Reading where she was Professor of Environmental Economics.

Professor Robinson said: “It is a real privilege to be joining the Grantham Research Institute at this critical time for our planet. The urgent need to address the global challenges of rapidly reducing emissions, protecting the environment, and strengthening the abilities of people and countries to adapt to a changing climate, is all too clear, and indeed the health and economic costs of inaction have been made particularly stark this year. I am really looking forward to working on these challenges with my new colleagues, and focusing particularly on the implications of action and inaction on lower-income households and countries. I feel that the Grantham Research Institute is well placed to contribute to LSE’s commitment to embedding environmental sustainability across the school, and I look forward to engaging with this important initiative.”

Professor Lord Stern of Brentford, the Chair of the Grantham Research Institute, said: “We are delighted that Elizabeth Robinson is joining us as Director of Grantham Research Institute. She joins us having built a very distinguished career both at the University of Reading and internationally. We look forward very much to the leadership she will bring to the Grantham Research Institute in a crucial period for climate and the environment, and as LSE strengthens its work on sustainability across the board.”
