Policy Seminar | Joe Cranston Turner "Setting the fifth carbon budget: using evidence in policy making"
Joe Cranston Turner, a Visiting Fellow and an Economic Advisor at the Department of Energy and Climate Change, will be the speaker at this seminar. His seminar will cover the following:
- Summary of the UK climate targets framework
- The main analytical lenses used to assess the different options for the fifth carbon budget; the international context, the long term pathways analysis and the static cost-benefit analysis.
- How the evidence was used when making the finals decision on the level of the fifth carbon budget.
Joe will be exploring how evidence is used by policy makers, with specific examples from the recently passed fifth carbon budget.
