This workshop will be given by Alon Carmel, NERA Economics Senior Consultant and Grantham Research Institute Visiting Fellow.

Alon will talk about the role of renewable technologies in the energy revolution that is sweeping the globe, and the particular challenges facing wind and solar projects at the ‎cusp of maturing into a non-subsidy, market competitive source of electricity. ‎Alon will share his experiences of having designed the current vintage of market based subsidy regime for renewable energy – the Contract for Difference and auctions for renewable energy subsidy contracts. He will also draw on his experience advising energy companies, developers and financial investors on renewable energy risks, financing costs, market modelling and the regulatory environment.
