Digital and Green Recovery in all regions? Opportunities and challenges for economic and territorial cohesion
The Report on Economic, Social and Territorial Cohesion is the flagship publication of the European Commission on the evolution of economic and social disparities between sub-national regions in Europe.
The 8th Cohesion Report presents a first picture of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic at the regional level in Europe. The report highlights that the green and digital transitions will be key drivers of EU growth, but argues that, without appropriate policy action, new economic, social and territorial disparities may appear.
Following Lewis Dijkstra’s presentation of the key insights from the Cohesion Report the discussants will highlight opportunities and challenges for public policies when supporting the digital and green transitions in all regions.

Lewis Dijkstra is Head of the Economic Analysis Sector of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, European Commission & Editor of the Cohesion Report 2022.
Iain Begg is Professorial Research Fellow and Co-Director of the Dahrendorf Forum, European Institute, LSE.
Danae Kyriakopoulou is Senior Policy Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, LSE.
