MP and Party
Position on Net Zero / Climate Change
  • MP commitment

Does not support net zero by 2050. Particularly interested in agricultural emissions. *

“… we want to take a more pragmatic approach towards net zero and if we rush into it, it is going to cost every household in this country too much and simply we can't afford it. … If we set dates that aren't achievable then we are inevitably going to actually damage the country's economy in itself. … I don't think the current government's approach towards North Oil and gas is correct. If we've got it, we should use it otherwise we're just importing it from other countries.”
"My starting point is that efforts to reduce and mitigate agricultural emissions should focus first and foremost on encouraging new green technologies and scientific innovations, rather than on imposing measures which might harm economic growth and living standards, and ultimately reduce domestic food production."
