About

Alon is a Senior Director at FTI Consulting in their Clean Energy Practice in London. He advises companies, investors and governments on energy markets and policy, renewable energy, auctions and carbon markets.

Background

Alon has advised offshore wind developers and investors on renewable energy auctions, Governments on renewable energy auction design, renewable supply chain companies on strategic market entry, the opportunities and risks from new technologies in the energy transition – such as batteries and other storage technologies, and electric vehicles (EVs). Alon also acts as an expert witness in disputes and arbitrations providing independent advice and analysis on contentious issues regarding energy markets and energy policy. Before joining FTI Consulting, Alon was a Senior Consultant at NERA Economics for over three years, working on financing renewable energy assets, market design and regulation. In 2010-14 worked for the UK Government as an advisor on electricity markets, renewable energy, climate change and carbon markets. Alon led the Decarbonisation policy team as part of the Government Electricity Market Reform (EMR), introducing a new subsidy regime for renewables, nuclear and CCS called the Contracts for Difference (CfD), and auctions for renewable energy as well as a carbon price floor (CPF). In earlier roles Alon worked as part of the UK’s international climate negotiations team, developing negotiating positions on emissions reductions targets from other countries like the US and China, and creating a model of the global carbon market (GLOCAF).

Alon holds an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics (LSE), an MSc in Economics from Birkbeck College and a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University.
