Better environmental decision-making and accounting metrics each require robust valuation both of natural capital itself and the changes that occur in services from these stocks over time or through policy reforms. The Institute’s research includes assessments of the value of cultural ecosystem services in the UK and the private and social value of ecosystems in Spain. Part of this work is also concerned with valuing the impacts of changing natural capital on other assets such as human capital and heritage capital (for example, heritage conservation).
