About

Saumya is a policy fellow for the International team – India, with focus on fiscal and climate adaptation and mitigation policy. Prior to joining the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx), Saumya was a Manager-Climate at Children’s Investment Fund Foundation. She managed various programmes in the India climate portfolio, focusing on sustainable finance both from a fiscal and financial market lens, as well as climate specific projects on industrial decarbonisation, heat stress and cooling action, sub national climate economic growth, and India’s climate diplomacy. 

Background

Saumya holds a master’s degree in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from LSE. She’s did her bachelor’s in economics (Honors) from Christ University, India. She started her career with the World Bank’s Environment and Natural Resources team, working on economic benefits of the forestry ecosystem and then as a researcher with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), an Indian think tank, focusing on climate finance.
