Mariana Valenzuela is a Visiting Professor at the Grantham Research Institute for Environment and Climate Change at LSE between December 2024 and December 2025.

Background

Mariana Valenzuela is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Chile. Her academic work is focused on litigation and civil procedure and she has taught core courses in procedural law and specialist courses in civil procedure reform. She is also a Permanent Member of the Council for State Defense, an autonomous institution responsible for the judicial defense of the Chilean State. Mrs. Valenzuela is part of the Board of the Council and co-heads the Environmental and Labor Committee. Councilor Valenzuela also is the coordinator of the Latin American Association of State Defense Institutions representing the Council for State Defense in the Working Group on Environmental Law.

Her academic titles include a Bachelor of Law and Social Sciences, a Law Degree from the Catholic University of Chile, and a postgraduate degree from Pompeu Fabra Universty in Spain.
