Dr Noah Walker-Crawford, Research Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment and the Department of Anthropology, has won the Rising Star award at the LSE Impact Prize 2026, given for impact achieved by an early career researcher.

The award recognises his project, “Making climate science count: bridging research and legal practice in climate litigation.” Noah has played a central role in the Lliuya v RWE case, in which a German court ruled in May 2025 that major corporate emitters can be held legally liable for climate harm. His book on the decade-long case, The Climate Trial: Law and Justice on a Melting Planet, was published by Duke University Press in March 2026.

Dr Aurélien Saussay, also of the Institute, was highly commended in the same ceremony for his project “Measuring green skills in Europe: a semantic approach.”

Congratulations to Noah and Aurélien.
