Jordan faces escalating climate change impacts that pose significant threats to the country’s achievement of its development objectives, with far-reaching implications for the country’s water resources, agriculture, and overall economic stability.
Over the past year Mercy Corps, in partnership with the London School of Economics, has conducted a thorough extended policy analysis of climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction (DRR) policies in Jordan. The analysis, results and recommendations will be shared publicly for the first time during this webinar, and are relevant for stakeholders across the Middle East.
Join this event for unmissable opportunities to:
- gain insights into the findings of our in-depth policy analysis, and the development process behind it.
- learn about the key recommendations made to stakeholders based on our research.
- discover how Mercy Corps plans to address critical gaps through our upcoming program.
- engage with the analysis – we welcome your insights and reflections.
Who should attend?
Policymakers, INGOs, local NGOs, development agencies, researchers, and practitioners working on CCA, DRR, and resilience-building initiatives.
What does the policy analysis include?
This analysis evaluates Jordan’s current CCA and DRR policies, identifies gaps and challenges, and offers recommendations for enhancing their implementation, with a particular focus on flash floods and heatwaves.
This information serves as a roadmap for policymakers, donors, NGOs, and climate advocates working towards a future where communities are better equipped to address climate challenges. It also lays the foundation for Mercy Corps’ activites in Jordan as part of the 12-year Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance program, which aims to strengthen and enhance vulnerable communities’ resilience and adaptation to climate change.
The program will engage national and local stakeholders and apply a three-pronged approach: strengthening climate resilience in vulnerable communities, localizing and enforcing national CCA and DRR policies, and fostering an enabling environment that encourages increased investment in climate-smart initiatives.
This webinar is more than just a presentation, it’s a call to action! Together, let’s explore how we can drive climate resilience forward.
