Facing with the challenges of external Trump trade war and internal real estate downturn, China has prepared for long-term external environment change, and shifted its development strategy. The new strategy moves away from the previous economic growth model dominated by GDP growth to a multi-dimensional and much balanced economic development strategy. The new strategy includes goals of security, science and technology innovation, economic development, green transformation and shared common prosperity. This strategy attaches importance to the development of the domestic consumer market, to the development of AI +, to the high tech-manufacturing, to the carbon neutrality transformation, and to the equality and shared common prosperity.

Looking forward, China’s economic development is expected to be more domestic market oriented, higher quality growth, and stronger economic resilience.

To explore these shifts and their global implications, this event brings together two distinguished speakers:

  • Dr. Zhu Min, Senior Advisor to the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, member of the Chief Executive’s Advisory Council in Hong Kong, Trustee of the World Economic Forum and the Peterson Institute for International Economics, and former Deputy Managing Director of the IMF. Dr. Zhu has also served as Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China, Executive Vice President of the Bank of China, and Chairman of the National Institute of Financial Research at Tsinghua University.
  • Professor Nicholas Stern, IG Patel Chair of Economics and Government at the London School of Economics, inaugural Chair of the Global School of Sustainability, and Chair of the Grantham Research Institute since its founding in 2008. Professor Stern is a leading authority on the economics of climate change and sustainable development.

Together, they will provide in-depth analysis of China’s evolving economic model, its strategic priorities, and the opportunities and challenges ahead for global stakeholders.
