Legal Voices for the Future presents our December 2024 Knowledge Session on Biodiversity
Net Gain and Nature Recovery, hosted in partnership with the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change & the Environment and led by LVF’s Stewardship Committee member, Harriet Hall. 

Presentation 

The session will explore the state of nature in England and the legal framework in place for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). Harriet will go on to explore the opportunities/challenges of BNG from a developer and landowner perspective, the concept of market creation for offsite biodiversity gains, how BNG can be legally secured.

Panel interview 

Harriet will run a panel interview with Molly Biddell (Head of Natural Capital at Knepp Estate), Dr Juliet Rose (Head of Development at the Eden Project), Henry Parkinson (Legal Counsel at Langley Abbey Estate and Project Lead for the Langley Abbey Environment Project) and Isabel Sgambellone (Planning Associate at CMS) to discuss their experiences of BNG in their roles to date.

Creative content 

The session will include a creative content workshop, where members have the opportunity to break out into small groups to discuss a piece of creative work which relates to the session, this can be a photograph, a poem, a video etc.! The creative content for this session will be announced soon!
