Advancing human rights, democratic participation, and accountability in a just transition (UNFCCC SB62 Side-Event)

As countries advance their climate commitments and transition pathways, ensuring that these transformations are grounded in human rights principles and democratic governance and participation is increasingly essential for both effectiveness and legitimacy.
This side-event showcased how international human rights law and other national and international legal and governance frameworks guide and enable effective just transition, rooted in democratic governance.
This event was organized by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), and the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
