On 20 May, the Climate Change Committee will publish its latest assessment of how well – or poorly – the UK is preparing for the impacts of climate change. This blog by Public First, informed by work undertaken with the Grantham Research Institute, presents findings from recent polling on what the British public thinks about adapting to climate change. Among the findings are that people can see that the weather is changing but there’s no settled language for describing it; impacts are expected immediately; weather changes are already making life harder; and the country doesn’t feel built for the weather it has, let alone the future.
