Climate Change Laws of the World - Statement of support from Christiana Figueres

Decision-makers in the public, private and third sectors need to act urgently at scale to deliver the goal of the Paris Agreement of limiting global warming to well below 2 Celsius degrees. To achieve this, they must continue to exchange ideas and best practices so that they can accelerate efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to those impacts that cannot now be avoided.
We must explore a wide range of bold and ambitious measures, policies and laws, based on robust evidence. We need to share that knowledge effectively between us, replicate success stories and learn quickly from mistakes. The excellent work that the Grantham Research Institute has been doing for years has provided great opportunities for policymakers to learn from each other. Through a network of high-level partners, their well-curated resources have reached parliamentarians, governments, and investors, informing policymaking and fostering collaboration worldwide.
It will require a tremendous effort to support countries in adopting and implementing measures, laws and policies to tackle climate change. It will require much more research, analysis and collaboration.
An ambitious climate-policy knowledge hub would materially contribute to progress at the national and local level, ensuring access by decision-makers to evidence and reliable information about which measures, polices and laws can implement the Paris Agreement.
