  • The 2027/8 admissions cycle began on 7 October for the start of the new cycle. If you intend to apply for an Executive programme for the 2026/27 academic session (starting November 2026, December 2026, or April 2027), you may also now use the new form to apply.
  • Please make sure that you read and follow all our instructions for the application process to make sure that you submit the right documents in good time. Good luck with your application!
  • Please prepare before you apply: assemble your transcripts, approach referees to make sure they are available and willing to write letters on your behalf (and alert them to expect our email), and polish your Statement of Academic Purpose (check our Supporting Documents pages for full guidance).
  • Please note that when programmes close, this applies to new applicants only - if your application is already under consideration you should check your individual status on the online tracker rather than using this page.
  • We run a rolling admissions system where programmes close once all places have been filled. Our advice is always to complete and submit your application as early as possible. Some Double Degrees have application deadlines at the partner institution where the application process is carried out there - please check individual programme pages.
  • Research programme funding: Deadlines for consideration for LSE and research council funding depend on your chosen programme, but will be one of these:
    - Early deadline departments and CRICA: 3 December 2026
    - Guaranteed consideration for LSE PhD Studentships and ESRC funding (including 1+3 funding) in other departments: 13 January 2027.
    - Final consideration for LSE PhD Studentships, subject to availability and final application deadline: 27 May 2027.
  • Please note: The structure and duration of the ESRC studentship offered will depend on a candidate's previous academic experience, and social research training & experience. ESRC studentships offer the option of both full-time and part-time study. We can discuss part-time options with you if you are interested in applying.
  • Graduate Support Scheme funding: The Graduate Financial Support Application will open in November and will run until April 2027. You should apply as early as possible, as needs-based funds are allocated on a rolling basis.
  • Please note, from Thursday 26 March 2026 the  UK Government introduced an emergency brake on new Student visa applications from Afghan, Burmese, Cameroonian or Sudanese nationals. As LSE will not be able to sponsor new Student visas for nationals of these four countries during this period, we are unable to accept applications from affected students who require a Student visa at this time.
