A World Economic Forum briefing paper produced in collaboration with the Grantham Research Institute
As the COVID-19 crisis continues, there is a widespread and profound realisation that we must ‘build back better and broader’, and an understanding of the great danger, difficulties and fragilities of the economies and societies we have created.
This report outlines a global vision and concrete, practical guidance to grow forward towards more resilient economies that serve all parts of society and ensure nature and the environment are preserved for future generations.
The authors first look back at the key achievements of the current economic model, as well as its unsustainability. Then they introduce and describe a framework for a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient growth path for society. The framework distinguishes short-term recovery needs, the social agenda and the priorities for economy and the environment. Finally, the report ends with a discussion of how different actors should engage and collaborate in this common endeavour.
