About

María Paula is a Research Assistant working on the use of analytical tools by Ministries of Finance to drive climate action and on the design of economic policy to incentivise adaptation investment. She supports the Grantham Institute’s work with the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action.

Background

María Paula holds an MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from the LSE. Her dissertation examined the role of nature-based solutions in mitigating climate shocks in Colombia’s agricultural sector. She has experience designing local environmental and decarbonisation policies, having worked with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the National Planning Department, and other subnational environmental authorities in Colombia. She holds a BSc (cum laude) in Economics and Anthropology from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia).
