Resilient and sustainable health systems

Health systems worldwide face unprecedented pressures: from aging populations and rising chronic disease burdens to climate change impacts and pandemic threats. Building resilience and sustainability into health systems has never been more critical.
At LSE Health, our research examines how health systems can adapt to shocks while maintaining equitable access to quality care. We explore innovative financing mechanisms, workforce strategies, and governance structures that enable health systems to respond effectively to current challenges while preparing for future uncertainties. Our work spans from analysing health system responses to COVID-19 to developing frameworks for climate-resilient healthcare delivery, helping policymakers design systems that can withstand disruption while delivering value for populations.
