About

Darshni is a Climate, Gender and Inclusivity Policy Fellow working to strengthen the role of finance ministries in advancing climate action and gender equality by integrating gender into climate fiscal policy.

Background

Before joining the Grantham Research Institute, Darshni was a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Disaster Protection, where she worked on pre-arranged and anticipatory finance for climate and disaster shocks. Her research explored disaster risk financing in emerging markets and developing economies and the links between national disaster risk financing and disaster risk reduction policy. Prior to that Darshni worked as an Innovative Finance and Gender Expert at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok where she supported the Government of Fiji in developing their national MSME strategy and led research on strengthening women’s financial resilience.

Darshni holds a MSc in Development Economics from SOAS and a BSc in Economics from the University of Surrey.
