Mainstreaming nature into Country Climate Development Reports: A preliminary assessment of opportunities and needs
The World Bank’s Country Climate and Development Reports (CCDRs) are important diagnostic tool in the World Bank’s toolbox to support clients to integrate climate and nature risks and opportunities into policy and operations.
In 2021, the World Bank committed to integrate nature within its analyses and advice to clients and invest in tools. This report assesses how nature is included within the CCDRs.
Six CCDRs were analysed in detail to determine where and how nature is incorporated: Indonesia, Brazil, Morocco., Democratic Republic of Congo, Pakistan, Malawi.
The commitment, made within the World Bank Group Climate Change Action Plan 2021-2025, reflects the vital importance of natural capital, biodiversity, and ecosystems services to development identified by the World Bank and its partners, including its foundational role in climate adaptation and mitigation and the risks to development of degradation of ecosystems.
