British Chevening Scholarships
LSE contributes 20% to the tuition fee of Chevening Awardees and will support the full tuition fees for those selected for a Chevening Partnership award.

Brazil

Fundação Estudar

Fundação Estudar is a non-profit institution which offers a merit-based scholarship programme for Brazilian students. In addition to scholarships, the Foundation provides career development and networking programmes for its scholars, both during and after their academic experiences. The Foundation is happy to consider applications from Brazilian students intending to study for a taught master's degree at LSE.

Instituto Ling

Instituto Ling is a philanthropic association with the purpose of offering financial support to young Brazilians who demonstrate potential to transform the Brazilian society into a more evolved, just and progressive one. It was founded in 1995 by the Ling family. Its mission is to contribute to Brazil´s social, economic, and cultural development, creating opportunities through investments in education.

Instituto Ling would be very happy to receive applications from prospective taught master's students at LSE. Students must be Brazilian, be able to show financial need and already have an offer of admission to an eligible programme.

Canada

Canadian Centennial Scholarship 

The Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund (CCSF) award opens Monday 9 January 2023 for submissions from all Canadian students pursuing full-time, multi-year (2 years or more) postgraduate programmes in any field of study. 

The CCSF will grant a number of £5,000 scholarships. Last year the CCSF granted awards totalling £70,000 to 14 postgrafduate students.

The deadline for applications is Friday 10 March 2023 at midnight UK time.

Robert C Douglas Scholarship in Economics

The Robert C Douglas Scholarship in Economics is established to support applicants who are a national of and currently domiciled in Canada with an offer of full time admission to the MSc Economics programme.

The first of these scholarships was awarded in 2020 and will be available annually until academic session 2024.

BUTEX (British Universities Transatlantic Exchange Association) offers eight scholarships for undergraduate students currently registered at an institution in the USA or Canada.

London Goodenough Association of Canada (LGAC) Scholarship Programme

The LGAC awards Scholarships towards the cost of accommodation at Goodenough College, the pre-eminent residential college for international graduate students in London. The LGAC is an association of Canadian former students who lived in the College's residences.

Chile

ANID (formally CONICYT)

Unfortunately, 2021 Becas Chile calls have been suspended due to the pandemic. It is expected to resume Becas ANID Chile Scholarships for 2022.

LSE has had a long standing agreement to contribute 20 per cent of the total tuition fee liability for scholars who have been approved by funding by ANID (formally CONICYT) under their standard award programme. ANID cover the remaining fee balance. ANID normally expect their awards to be repaid following graduation; however the LSE contribution is not repayable.

Henry Lester Trust

The Henry Lester Trust Limited, named after Henry Lester who spent most of his life in Shanghai and who died there in 1926, considers applications for a grant of up to £2,500 from those who meet the following conditions:

  1. Citizenship of the People's Republic of China.
  2. Studying at a United Kingdom university or research establishment at postgraduate level or higher.
  3. Studying or researching in the subject areas of architecture (to include civic planning, construction management, etc), medicine, computer development, and mechanical sciences.
  4. Formal written support of the applicant's professor, head of department or similar senior person.
  5. The applicant will return to China.
  6. The knowledge and skill obtained will be for the benefit of the people of China.

There is currently no formal application form. All applications must be made in writing to the address below. Applications must include the formal written support of the applicants' professor or head of department, full details of the course or area of research, a detailed CV, a calculation of the amount sought, and an indication of the intention to return to China in due course.

Sino-British Friendship Scholarship Scheme

This scheme is jointly funded by the Sir Y K Pao Foundation and the governments of the People's Republic of China and the UK. Applicants should be resident in China at the time of the application and plan to undertake postgraduate research studies in the UK in the fields of technology, science, medicine, economics or social sciences. Awards last for up to three years and include air fares.
