Student Content Creators

Are you interested in documenting your student experience for the LSE European Institute?
This flexible, hourly-based role is open to Master's and PhD students studying in the 2025/26 academic year at the LSE European Institute who want to use their creative and tech-savvy skills to showcase their journey at LSE for prospective students and our wider EI community.

About the role
We are looking for students within the LSE European Institute to support our team with the creation of video content for our social media channels and website, especially Instagram and YouTube. Our goal is to promote postgraduate study in the European Institute to prospective students, and showcase our departmental activities to our community in general, by sharing content by and for students, highlighting your point of view and experience as an LSE student.
As a Student Content Creator at the EI, you'll be creating authentic and informative content that depicts life at the European Institute, with the potential to reach thousands of students, alumni, and academics across LSE and beyond. This multi-faceted role is a great way for you to use your creativity and people skills to boost your CV while working behind the scenes to shape the European Institute's online presence. You'll gain valuable and transferrable skills in public speaking, video production, teamwork, time management, and more.
Whether you are a home or international student, studying on one of our single or double degrees, or completing your PhD with us – we want to hear from you! The more perspectives, the better.
Being a Student Content Creator at the European Institute was a highlight of my studies! I got to engage closely with the Institute's events, research, and community by promoting its work and making creative short-form content. It was a great way to feel more connected to the Institute while gaining hands-on experience in outreach and communications. I would particularly recommend the role to anyone looking to strengthen their digital communication skills, which are valuable across many professional fields.
Relevant tasks include:
- Content ideation, research, and planning
- Short-form content creation for Instagram and/or Youtube
- Support with social media campaigns/LSE theme days (e.g. International Women’s Day at the European Institute or Mental Health Awareness Week)
- Providing ad hoc support to our communications team with various tasks (e.g. website updates, research and departmental news, our annual report)
Specifics:
- This is a flexible, hourly-based role.
- Renumeration: £18.91 per hour (Band 3).
- Successful candidates will get onboarded with a 2h training covering video editing tips & tricks
- Expected to produce 1-3 videos per term.
- May be asked to support with additional communications tasks as listed above.

Examples of content you will be creating
Voiceover montages/vlogs
This format is great for recapping a specific experience or if you want to feature lots of clips. It requires more scripting beforehand and recording an engaging voiceover, but it means you don't need to film yourself speaking on camera which can be more straightforward.
Montage videos with voiceover
- To recap the Winter Term, our content creator Solène narrated this great overview alongside a compilation of her own clips through the term as well as some from her fellow content creators.
Come along with me (CAWM) videos with voiceover

News correspondent style
This format is very engaging as you are speaking directly to the camera and can take our viewers on a journey through campus or London for example by switching up the shots throughout the video and/or interviewing different people!
Come along with me (CAWM) videos with interviews
- While attending our Student Conference at Cumberland Lodge, our content creators Julie and Isaac worked together to compile this video asking their fellow students about their experience and thoughts on the conference.

Wondering what it's like to...?

Interview-based videos featuring students, faculty, and alumni
You don't (always) have to be on camera! We are always keen to feature students studying across our eight master's degrees and PhD programme, as well as showcasing a diversity of perspectives, experiences, and interests, so you will often be asked to gather testimonies from your peers, as well as calling on our alumni community and faculty for content for Q&A compilations.
Q&A compilation videos
