The Department of Accounting at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is pleased to announce the arrival of three new assistant professors: Dr Alex Coble, Dr Hyunjin Kim, and Dr Carmine Pizzo. These appointments bring valuable expertise and perspectives that will further strengthen the Department’s research and teaching portfolio.

Dr Alex Coble joins us from the Wharton Doctoral Program. With prior experience at KPMG in both audit and M&A advisory practices, Dr Coble is a licensed CPA in the state of Virginia. She will be teaching AC416 Topics in Financial Reporting this academic year.

Dr Hyunjin Kim joins us from the Kellogg School of Management Doctoral Program. Dr Kim has previously worked as a corporate bond credit analyst at an asset management company in New York. He will be teaching AC206 Intermediate Management Accounting this academic year.

Dr Carmine Pizzo joins us from the Lancaster University Doctoral Program. His research centres on disclosure and information verification, with a particular emphasis on the information environment of private firms. He will be teaching AC491 Financial Accounting, Reporting and Disclosure this academic year.

Alongside these new appointments, the Department is pleased to announce Professor Maria Correia as the new Head of Department. She succeeds Professor Ane Tamayo who has made a significant contribution to the improvement of the Department’s standing in both research and teaching over the last three years. During Professor Correia’s tenure, the Department will continue its commitment to academic excellence in research and teaching.

Professor Correia has been at LSE since 2016, having joined us from London Business School and completed her PhD at Stanford University.
