
About
Prithwiraj (Raj) Choudhury is a Professor in the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a globally recognised expert on the Future of Work.
Prior to LSE, he served on the faculties at Wharton and Harvard Business School. In 2023, Forbes included him in their Future of Work 50 list, and in 2024 he was included in the TIME-Charter 30 list of thought leaders shaping the future of work. He is also an Associate Editor at both Management Science, and Strategic Management Journal.
Professor Choudhury is a member of, and Faculty Group Lead for, the Organisational Behaviour Faculty Research Group.
Research
Professor Choudhury studies how technology is changing where we work and how we work and has pioneered research on how ‘Work from anywhere’ (WFA) affects workers, organisations, communities, and smaller towns.
He also studies the impact of AI on organisations and how AI and automation can help both desk workers and deskless workers work from anywhere. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as Organization Science, Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Development Economics, The Review of Economics and Statistics and The Review of Financial Studies. His book, ‘The World is Your Office’ was published in April 2025 and became a National Bestseller in the United States.
His research has been cited by the BBC, CNN, Financial Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Forbes, Fortune, The Economist, Freakonomics, Al Jazeera, El País, and Times of India, among other outlets. He has delivered keynotes and provided advice on the future of work to organisations as diverse as Atlassian, the British Parliament, the Council on Foreign Relations, Deel, Google, ITC, Young Presidents’ Organization, and the United Nations.

Engagement and impact
Atlassian
Professor Choudhury provided a year-long consultation on workplace and technology strategy, helping the global software company design and implement its Team Anywhere remote-first operating model, now widely cited as one of the most successful large-scale distributed workforce strategies.
ITC Infotech
Professor Choudhury advised global technology services firm ITC Infotech on its transition from a traditional organisational model to a remote-first and AI-enabled workplace, designing a talent strategy around work-from-anywhere and piloting new practices around automation.
Tulsa Remote
Professor Choudhury's research helped inform the development of Tulsa Remote, a programme designed to attract remote workers to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The initiative has become one of the most widely studied examples of how smaller cities can reverse brain drain and attract talent.
