About
John is a historian of modern British and international history. His doctoral research focused on attitudes and policies towards Zionism and the Arab-Israeli conflict within the political culture of Britain in the mid-twentieth century, situating these debates within the broader context of contemporary discussions around Britain’s strategic interests and changing global role, the Cold War and Anglo-American relations.
His wider research interests are centred on how political ideas – particularly about internationalism, imperialism and anticolonialism – have impacted foreign policy, in Britain and globally.
John has previously taught undergraduate courses on modern British, international and architectural history at Queen Mary University of London, and has served as a Co-Managing Editor of the academic journal Cold War History.
He attended the University of Cambridge as an undergraduate and the LSE as a Masters student. He returns to the LSE following the completion of his doctorate at Queen Mary University of London in 2026.
