Learn and connect
In your first week (WK1) you will be sent details of the PB500 seminar. You will also have the chance to discuss the programme with the PBS Doctoral Programme Director.
Your Programme Manager will be in touch about other arrangements that relate to your study and to book individual (online) induction meetings.
The LSE PhD Academy is a dedicated space for all doctoral candidates at LSE. It is separate to PBS, but we work closely with them to make sure you get the support you need from registration through to graduation.
The PhD Academy will host various Welcome events so it is worth keeping an eye out for those. These will be available via the LSE Welcome website.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) are core aspects of the university experience. It is crucial that Universities reflect societal diversity, create spaces for critical reflections on fundamental assumptions, and challenge discriminatory barriers. These cut across numerous aspects of university life including teaching, research, hiring, student recruitment, events, and more. At the same time, we must create welcoming and inclusive spaces where this can take place.
Support and wellbeing
The Disability and Mental Health Service (DMHS) offers confidential advice and support to all disabled students. This includes support for students with physical impairments, long-term health conditions, mental health conditions, specific learning difficulties, and autistic spectrum conditions.
The Student Wellbeing Service works with you and the wider School to explore and manage challenges relating to disability, and to support your wellbeing so you can make the most of your LSE experience.
The Student Advice and Engagement Team provides advice to students on academic matters, UK student immigration, UKVI compliance and manage the front-facing Student Services Centre counter.
