Biography

Before joining LSE, I obtained my BA in journalism at Zhejiang University in China and completed my MA in Global Media and Communication with distinction at the University of Warwick, UK.

Research topic:

The transformation of the Party-state’s policy on digital news media in China: Political Economy, Hegemony and Stratification

Abstract:

My proposed research project intends to unravel multidimensional power relations that underpin media policy changes which are of great relevance to the developmental trajectory of the Chinese digital news media sector. Attempting to transcend the conventionally dichotomous banalities such as authoritarianism-versus-democracy and freedom-versus-censorship, this research is going to critically unpack the intertwined relationships and power struggles among the state, capital logic, media institutions in specific political economic circumstances through the lens of media policy and subsequent implications as well as dilemma.
