Explore degree funding opportunities to amplify your social impact

We are committed to investing in the greatest minds who will go on to serve society and change the world for good, regardless of their personal or financial situation. Our scholarships recognise and nurture future leaders who will make a positive impact on society through their academic and practical contributions in this field.

The Marshall Institute is delighted to offer a scholarship scheme for outstanding candidates applying to study the Executive MSc Social Business and Entrepreneurship programme. All candidates who wish to be considered for a scholarship for entry on the EMSBE programme in September 2026 must have submitted a completed EMSBE programme application (including references) and scholarship application by 5.00pm UK time (BST) on Friday 1st May 2026. More details on how to apply are below.

Three full awards of £36,700 to cover tuition fees for 2026 entry. One of these full-award scholarships is reserved for a candidate working at the forefront of an impact-first organisation that has applied to one of 100x Impact Accelerator cohort schemes.

Five ‘match funding’ awards covering 50% of 2026/27 fees (£18,350). The remaining 50% of fees will need to be covered by the applicant and we encourage candidates to consider how they will do so, whether that is through their employer, loans, an external organisation, or themselves.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  • The candidate demonstrates prior academic excellence or aptitude.
  • The candidate shows evidence of creative contributions in, and commitment to, the fields of social entrepreneurship, social business, corporate social business, and/or nonprofit organisations.
  • The candidate demonstrates the long-term benefits of the programme to their sector or region.
  • The candidate demonstrates that their background and professional experience will enhance the classroom learning environment.

Preference will be given to candidates from emerging or developing markets and/or those from the third sector, the public sector, and social enterprises.

One full-award scholarship is reserved for a candidate working at the forefront of an impact-first organisation that has applied to one of 100x Impact Accelerator cohort schemes.

Step 1

If you wish to be considered for one of the above scholarships on the EMSBE programme, you will need to:

  • Submit an application for admission on the programme, via LSE Graduate Admissions.
  • For your scholarship application to be considered, you must have submitted your programme application, including references, by the deadline of 5.00pm UK time (BST) on Friday 1st May 2026.
Please note that we will not be able to consider your application until your references have been received from your referees, so we would advise you to encourage your referees to submit these as soon as possible, and ideally before the deadline. If we do not receive these within a few days of the deadline, we may not be able to consider your application for funding this year.

If you have any questions on the timeline, please get in touch with us at Marshallinstitute.emsbeenquiries@lse.ac.uk.

Step 2

To apply for one of the scholarships, you will need to:

  • Complete the Scholarship Application Form.
  • The deadline to complete the scholarship application form is 5.00pm UK time (BST) on Friday 1st May 2026.
  • You will be asked to select which scholarship you are applying for – the full award or the match-funding award.
Please note that you will only be considered for the scholarship you apply for, and scholarship amounts are final – no additional offers of funding will be available.

All scholarship decisions will be made and communicated by mid-June 2026. All decisions will be sent by email to the address supplied on your scholarship application form. Please ensure that our domain name – lse.ac.uk – is added to your safe senders list and routinely check your junk/spam folders.

Candidates who are offered a scholarship award will be given a deadline of two weeks to accept or decline the award. If we do not hear back by the deadline, the award will be offered to another candidate.

If you are awarded the partial scholarship, you will be asked to pay the EMSBE programme pre-registration fee (of £2,500) to secure your place on the programme by the deadline for acceptance of the scholarship. This pre-registration fee is deducted from the remaining fees and is not an additional payment.
