Federico Maria Ferrara is a Research Officer on the ERC-funded SOLID project led by Prof. Waltraud Schelkle. His research interests span several topics in European and international political economy. Most of his research focuses on the political economy of the European Central Bank (ECB). His doctoral thesis explores the politics of the ECB's monetary policy during the euro crisis. In other projects, he investigates the political determinants and consequences of international trade imbalances in advanced industrial democracies. A large part of his empirical work is based on quantitative text analysis techniques.
Federico holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Geneva, a MSc in International Political Economy from LSE, and a BSc in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University. Before joining the European Institute, Federico worked for two years as a researcher in the Global Media Relations Division of DG-Communications at the ECB. His work has been published in the Journal of European Public Policy and the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Politics.
