LSE Accounting welcomes new faculty and staff

The Department of Accounting is delighted to welcome five new colleagues this academic year, bringing a wealth of academic, professional and teaching experience to our community.

Welcoming new faculty and staff to LSE Accounting

We are pleased to welcome four new Assistant Professors, Dr Ginha Kim, Dr Fulvia Oldrini, Dr Thomas Simon and Dr Daniela Zipperer, alongside Harriet Baylore, who joins the Department as our new MSc Associate Programme Director.

Meet our new faculty

Our four new Assistant Professors bring research expertise spanning financial reporting, regulation, capital markets, organisational incentives, corporate disclosure and sustainability. Their research focuses on timely topics and has practical relevance to regulators, firms, and society in general.

Dr Ginha Kim researches how accounting measurement, reporting rules and regulation influence the way firms structure their transactions and organisations. Her interests span regulation, industrial organisation, financial reporting and contracting. This year, Ginha will teach AC444 Valuation and Security Analysis and AC462 Forensic Accounting Analytics.

Dr Fulvia Oldrini examines the determinants and consequences of corporate disclosure in capital markets, including how disclosure can shape financing choices, institutional investor interest, shareholder composition and project selection. She brings this capital markets and financial reporting perspective to her teaching on AC205 Intermediate Financial Accounting.

Dr Thomas Simon studies the role of incentives and transparency in organisations, exploring how contracting, reporting and control systems shape individual behaviour and organisational outcomes across settings including healthcare, policing and firms. This year, Thomas will teach AC456 Accounting Analysis of Mergers, Acquisitions and Other Complex Deals.

Dr Daniela Zipperer researches alternatives to traditional corporate sustainability disclosure, with a focus on disclosure design, information processing and preparation costs, and the real effects of disclosure. Her expertise will feed into her teaching on AC342 Accounting, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability and AC458 Sustainability Reporting and Analytics.

Together, their diverse research interests will further enrich the Department’s research community while bringing contemporary research questions and perspectives into the classroom.

Welcoming our new MSc Associate Programme Director

We are also delighted to welcome Harriet Baylore as our new MSc Associate Programme Director.

Harriet joins the Department with experience from McKinsey, London Business School and the LSE Department of Finance, bringing a broad range of professional and higher education experience to the role.

We are delighted to have Ginha, Fulvia, Thomas, Daniela and Harriet joining the Department and look forward to the contributions they will make to our teaching, research and wider Accounting community.

A very warm welcome to LSE Accounting!
