Winners and Runners Up

The students, once again, challenged themselves as well as the Jury with a broad range of interesting investment proposals. To see that many of them also incorporated an Economic History perspective was particularly rewarding

Six teams of three and four battled it out over the weekend to build an investment plan combining their economic history skills with their economic and financial abilities. Yet again, the standard this year was high, and the winners and runners up are as follows:

Winners: Group Two - Basthiankoralalage Ramitha Migara Rodrigo (BSc Economics and Economic History), Tommy Hodson (BSc Economic History), and Dev'Roux Maharaj (MSc Economic History-Research). 

Winning Topic: Investing in ASML Holding N.V., the driving force behind the machines that make the chips that make AI run.

Group Two receive the opportunity to shadow analysts at Tikehau Capital, a leading asset management and investment firm. The prize was awarded by Joachim Leise, Chair of the Jury

Second Place: Group Four - Siddh Patel (BSc Economic History), Abbas Nathani (BSc Economics and Economic History), Cindy Yang (General Course), and Huxley Matthews Barron (BSc Economic History)

Topic: Investing in Albemarle Corporation, a key global supplier of lithium that powers electric car batteries and other green revolution stuff

Group Four receive a monograph by alumnus Thomas F. Huertas: Citibank, 1812-1970 (Cambridge, Mass., Harvard University Press), Harvard Studies in Business History Vol. 37 (with Harold van B. Cleveland).

Third Place: Group One - Francesco Rassu (BSc Economic History), Finlay Sleeman (BSc Economic History), and Stefania Ganda  (MSc Economic History)

Topic: A well-designed risk/return strategy for a carefully selected portfolio of emerging markets bonds
