About me

Jane Lewis is an Emeritus Professor of Social Policy in the Department of Social Policy. She is a Fellow of the British Academy, the Royal Society of Canada and a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.

Her research interests include: History of social policy in the UK, particularly gender, family, health and social care and voluntary organisations; gender and social policy; family policy, particularly childcare; and comparative Western European gender and family policy.

She is the author of 14 books and over 200 articles, and the editor of 17 books.  Most recently she co-authored a series of articles on aspects of relationships between students, co-resident graduates and parents, and on the development of English early years education and care policy under the Coalition.
