About me

Dr Yuxi Zhang is a Research Fellow at the LSE-Fudan Global Public Policy Hub of the School of Public Policy, London School of Economics and Political Science. Before joining LSE, Yuxi was the postdoctoral research fellow at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. Yuxi received a DPhil in Social Policy degree from Oxford. Her doctorate studies the healthcare universalisation reform in China and the role of the cadre management mechanism in incentivising local health officials to follow the reformative agenda of the central ministries.

Yuxi’s research interests include healthcare reform, pandemic science, public administration, and bureaucratic politics. During her previous work with the Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker, Yuxi worked on collecting comparable and frequent COVID-19 policy data in more than 180 countries and regions. She has also led the project’s effort to collect Chinese provincial-level policy responses to COVID-19. In addition, Yuxi has worked on assessing the UK government’s implementation of “value-for-money” recommendations made by the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee. Yuxi's research has appeared in Governance, PLOS One, Journal of the Royal Society Interface, the World Economic Forum website, Bloomberg, and many other places.
