We’re pleased to announce the appointment of two new LSE Fellows to the Department, Marius Backmann and Lewis Ross, who join us this month.

Marius Backmann joins us from the University of Konstanz, where he was the Principal Investigator for a DFG-funded research project on the metaphysics of induction. Marius has also been a long-term visitor to LSE’s Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science. As well as the metaphysics of induction, Marius’ research interests include the philosophy of science, the philosophy of time, and free will.

In 2019-20 Marius will lead our undergraduate course The Big Questions: An Introduction to Philosophy.

Lewis Ross joins us from the Arché Philosophical Research Centre at the University of St Andrews, where he worked on the Epistemology: Current Themes research project. His research interests include political philosophy and epistemology, as well as topics in the philosophy of law, the philosophy of science, and moral theory.

In 2019-20 Lewis will teach on our master’s course Philosophy, Morals and Politics.

We look forward to welcoming Marius and Lewis to the Department!
