Did you know that Ricky Gervais has a philosophy degree? Did you know that philosophy is one of the most employable degree programmes in the UK?

A recent article in The Times looked at the surprisingly broad range of career opportunities open to philosophy graduates. The article quotes LSE Careers Office data in stating that our Department has one of the lowest rates of unemployment in the School, with graduates from our BSc programmes on an average starting salary of £32,000 in 2013/4.

In an interview for the article, Dr Bryan Roberts points out that “there is a misconception that philosophy is about theoretical speculation in an ivory tower but we teach a rigorous, transferable set of skills with practical applications that address everything from drones to evidence-based medicine”.
