About
Yuanmo is an LSE Fellow in Advanced Quantitative Methods at the Department of Methodology.
He obtained a PhD in Social Research Methods from the LSE. He also holds an MSc in Applied Social Data Science from the LSE and a BSc in Social Sciences from University College London. His doctoral thesis uses large-scale digital trace data and advanced computational methods (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing, causal analysis, and social network analysis) to study how daily behaviours and social interactions reflect and reinforce socioeconomic inequality.
Yuanmo is interested in data science and AI, both as methodological tools and as substantive topics of social scientific enquiry. In his current fellowship, he is developing a research agenda on how class distinctions are encoded in languages and large language models (LLMs), while publishing findings from his PhD.
Yuanmo is a stand-up comedian in free time. He also writes blog posts in English and Chinese.
