About

Manickam is a Research Assistant at the TPI Global Climate Transition Centre (TPI Centre).

The TPI Centre provides asset owners and managers with publicly available data on the climate performance of companies, banks and countries. As part of the ASCOR (Assessing Sovereign Climate-related Opportunities and Risks) project team, Manickam contributes to country assessments on managing the low-carbon transition and the impacts of climate change.

Background

Prior to his current role, Manickam worked in environmental and economic consulting on projects and publications covering renewable energy, climate finance, and climate policy. He focused on empirical research and analysis, spanning work on renewable energy tracking, financing mechanisms to address deforestation, and gender considerations in national climate commitments.

Manickam works across both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, with a particular interest in applying analytical approaches, including web scraping, spatial and remote-sensing analysis, and text analysis, in data-scarce environmental and economic contexts.

Manickam holds an MSc in Local Economic Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Politics from the University of London.
