Dr Charles Sherwood spent 30 years in the private equity industry as a Founder Partner of Permira, playing a central role in building the firm from three executives in a single London office to a team of 130 in 14 offices around the world.

He has served on the boards of five public companies and a wide range of private ones. Among his various responsibilities, he was one of Permira’s most experienced negotiators.

More recently, he has studied and conducted research on negotiation ethics at LSE, where he is now a lecturer and graduate teacher on the popular Business & Organisational Ethics course. He also holds an MA in History from Cambridge, an MBA from the Harvard Business School, and an MSc and PhD in Philosophy from the LSE.

He is also a keen mountaineer and wilderness skier, with ascents of the North Face of the Eiger and El Capitan, and a ski descent of Mont Blanc. His previous publications include Seven Climbs: finding the finest climb on each continent.
