LSE partners with Instituto Trajetórias to support Brazilian postgraduate students

LSE has announced a pioneering new partnership with Instituto Trajetórias to co-fund Brazilian students enrolled on master’s degrees at the School.
The Instituto Trajetórias – LSE Graduate Funding Programme will provide enhanced financial support for master’s students from Brazil, promoting access to world-class education and fostering the development of leaders committed to Brazil’s sustainable future.
Applications for the Programme open in February 2026, with the first cohort of scholars scheduled to arrive at LSE in September 2026. Beneficiaries will receive a financial package from Instituto Trajetórias and a scholarship covering 30% of LSE tuition fees. LSE has committed over £1.2 million to support Brazilian students through the initiative between the 2026/27 and 2030/31 academic years, with a at least 25 scholars supported annually.
Welcoming the new partnership, LSE Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), Professor Emma McCoy, said:
“LSE already has one of the largest and most active Brazilian student populations of any UK university. Our new partnership with Instituto Trajetórias will ensure that many more students will be able to take up the enormous opportunities of studying here, and return to Brazil as leaders committed to generating positive change for the country.”
The Funding Programme
The Instituto Trajetórias – LSE Graduate Funding Programme is open to Brazilian students enrolled on all 9–12 month postgraduate taught degrees at LSE; and the two-year Master of Public Administration (MPA) offered by the School of Public Policy. The Funding Programme provides access to more than 100 postgraduate master’s degrees at LSE, allowing students to develop skills and deepen their knowledge across the full spectrum of social science disciplines.
Applications for the first cohort of LSE-Trajetórias scholars will open in February 2026. In order to meet key deadlines, prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early in the LSE admissions cycle and ensure that all entry requirements, including English language conditions, are met as soon as possible.

Through partnerships with local governments, universities, and philanthropic institutions, the Institute provides guidance and support to Brazilian students before and after their studies abroad – advancing diversity, inclusion, and global collaboration in higher education.
Instituto Trajetórias offers a blended financial package of scholarships and credit loans to support postgraduate students attending recognised partner universities worldwide. Scholarships are funded by a range of partners, including state governments and universities, while credit loans help students bridge financial gaps related to tuition and living costs. In certain cases, additional benefits may be available, such as paid study leave for public servants undertaking one-year master’s programmes relevant to their professional fields.

To celebrate the launch of the programme, LSE and Instituto Trajetórias will be hosting an online webinar to share more details about master’s programmes at LSE, life in London as a Brazilian student, and guidance on how to apply for funding. The event is scheduled to take place at 9.00pm (UK time) / 6.00pm (Brasilia time) on Monday 24 November 2025.
