Professor Patrick Sturgis

A very warm welcome to all new students joining the Department of Methodology in the 2026-27 academic year.

We hope that you will find LSE in general and the Department of Methodology in particular an exciting intellectual environment for your postgraduate studies.

On your Welcome schedule page you will find all the upcoming events for incoming MSc students, so please read this carefully and make a note of the events you need to attend. You are encouraged to attend non-compulsory events too - these really help students to form bonds early on in the year (and they're great fun too!).

Your MSc handbook contains useful information, dates and guidelines. You should read the handbooks before the start of the academic year and refer to them regularly after that.
