Cuba-US relations in the 21st century
Friday 22 March, 14:00 – 16:00, 32 Lincoln's Inn, room 32L.1.05
On 17 December 2014, US President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raúl Castro announced the beginning of a process of normalising relations between Cuba and the United States, ending a 54-period of hostility between the nations. What were the processes that lay behind this historic step? And what is the current state of play in Cuba-US relations?
This seminar will provide a rare opportunity to discuss these questions with Cuban expert Dr Ernesto Dominguez López of the University of Havana. Dr Dominguez López’ recently published book chapter (‘Factors Determining Dialogue: Cuba in the U.S. Strategic Plan for the 21st Century') will form the basis of the discussion and will be circulated to participants in advance of the seminar.
The seminar is targeted at postgraduate students but all are welcome. Attendance will be capped at 16. Please contact Dr Anna Cant for further details.
