Governance

The Institute is overseen by the Institute Director, currently Professor Francisco Ferreira, who reports to the President and Vice-Chancellor of LSE. Alongside the Institute Manager, who oversees all professional services staff, the Director and the AFSEE Executive Director constitute the Executive Committee, which oversees day-to-day matters across the Institute.

Strategic guidance and oversight is provided to the Director and Executive Committee by the Steering Committee, which consists of five senior academics at the School, as well as four ex-officio members: the Institute Director (chair), the AFSEE Executive Director, the Institute Manager, and the Vice-President and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research. The terms of reference and current membership of the Steering Committee are available here.

Finally, the Directors also benefit from advice, guidance and insights from an External Advisory Board (EAB), which consists of seven distinguished academics with relevant scholarship on inequality from different disciplinary perspectives, as well as the same four ex-officio members listed above. The EAB is currently chaired by Professor François Bourguignon (Paris School of Economics).
