About us

Our Mission

Launched in 2026 with generous support from the Good Ventures foundation, the Global Priorities Research Group aims to advance philosophical research relevant to identifying, prioritising among, and addressing the world’s most pressing problems. We put particular emphasis on exploring the priorities suggested by impartial considerations of individual wellbeing, ethical questions that arise from that ranking, and research with clear, actionable recommendations. The overarching vision is a world in which the expertise of philosophers is brought to bear on questions of ethical prioritisation, facilitating the discovery of novel considerations that improve the decisions of individuals and institutions.

Who We Are

The research group is made up of philosophers based at the London School of Economics and Political Science and is housed within the School’s Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science (CPNSS). The research group continues the work of Oxford’s Global Priorities Institute and carries forward much of its philosophical research agenda.
