International Research Awards for Professor Ian Martin

The Department of Finance is pleased to announce that Professor Ian Martin has recently been honoured with two prestigious international research awards.

Professor Ian Martin's paper "What is the Expected Return on a Stock?" (co-authored with Christian Wagner) won the Wharton School-WRDS Best Paper Award in Empirical Finance at the 2017 annual conference of the Western Finance Association. The paper was also awarded an Honourable Mention at the AQR Insight Award 2017.

His paper "The Quanto Theory of Exchange Rates" (co-authored with Lukas Kremens, a PhD student in the Department of Finance) won the Best Paper Award at the IF2017 Annual Conference in International Finance held at Cass Business School, London, in June 2017.

Ian Martin is a Professor of Finance at LSE. He earned his PhD in Economics at Harvard, and previously worked as an interest-rate derivatives trader at Goldman Sachs. His research focuses on financial economics.
