Join us for the School of Public Policy’s 2025 Annual Lecture at which Sanna Marin, former Prime Minister of Finland will be in conversation with Andrés Velasco, Dean of the School of Public Policy to discuss her new book, Hope in Action: A Memoir About the Courage to Lead.

In the conversation Sanna Marin will share her perspectives on political leadership, international affairs, and the challenges and opportunities facing societies today. The conversation will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience.

Meet our speaker and chair

Sanna Marin (@MarinSanna) is the former Prime Minister of Finland and the former leader of the Finnish Social Democratic Party. Marin made history as the longest-serving female prime minister of Finland, leading a coalition government entirely headed by women. She currently works as a strategic counsellor advising leaders on their reform programs, geopolitics, climate, gender equality, and the impact of emerging technologies.

Andrés Velasco (@AndresVelasco) is Professor of Public Policy and Dean of the School of Public Policy at LSE. In 2017-19 he was a member of the G20 Eminent Persons Group. During 2015-16 he co-chaired the Global Panel on the Future of the Multilateral Lending Institutions. In 2013-16 he was a member of the Global Oceans Commission.
