EC451 Micro is a compulsory pre-sessional course for MSc Economics students who wish to take EC487: Advanced Microeconomics. Students who meet the criteria listed within the application form and want to take EC487 Advanced Micro are therefore required to attend the EC451 Micro pre-sessional course instead of the Static Optimization & Fixed Points part of EC400.
During the first two days of EC451, students should assess whether they can do the exercises and then make a provisional decision about the suitability of the course; someone who learns that EC487 is not for them in the first two days can switch into EC411 by attending EC400 Static Optimization & Fixed Points thereafter. Those who are unsure and need further advice should speak to the MSc Tutor.
All decisions must be communicated via the econ.msc@lse.ac.uk mailbox so we can ensure that you will be undertaking the correct examination.
This form will open to MSc Economics students on the day of EC400 orientation and close at midday on Friday 28 August 2026. Applicants will be notified of their result by the end of the day.
The application for EC487 admission will close at 12 noon on Friday 28 August. Successful applicants will receive a notification of their EC451 Micro group assignment by the end of the day. Please note that decisions cannot be appealed.
